About DEF

The Decision Education Foundation exists to improve the lives of young people by improving the quality of their decisions.

Our lives and our society are shaped by the choices we make as students, professionals, consumers, citizens, and family members. These choices continue to grow in number, complexity, and urgency. Yet few of us are taught how to make good decisions, even though the concepts can be grasped at an early age. As a result, we may miss out on major opportunities or fall into serious trouble by succumbing to impulse, external persuasion, or well-documented “decision traps.”

DEF works to create awareness that decision competence is as important to a well-rounded education as language arts and math. We seek to attract education, community, and thought leaders to champion our cause. Our goal is to make the phrase “decision education” familiar in the education community and to establish The Decision Education Foundation as an invaluable resource for those who want to promote decision education in their particular environment.

We encourage a variety of educational approaches to improve decision skills, including school curriculum, teacher training, publications, software, and video development.

The Decision Education Foundation is undertaking its mission on a non-profit basis. Therefore, we actively seek individuals and organizations willing to join our cause through contributions of time and money. We also plan to generate revenue through our products and services.
