The Essentials of Good Decision Making
The Essentials of Good Decision Making is for educators, administrators, and counselors who wish to learn a framework and process for helping youths reach quality decisions. The course covers the basics of good decision making and explores how they can be applied in a variety of decision situations and taught to students. The course features:
- A framework for defining the requirements of Decision Quality
- A proven process for achieving Decision Quality

Interactive, hands-on format with breakout groups and case studies

Teaching Decision Skills in Humanities
DEF instructors and experienced classroom teachers demonstrate how to integrate the teaching of decision skills into English and history/social studies classes. Teaching Decision Skills in Humanities features:

Instruction by experts in decision skills, classroom teachers, and curriculum developers

Interactive, hands-on format including breakout groups and role-playing

Proven lesson plans and classroom materials incorporating decision skills into the humanities curriculum

Practice in developing lesson plans that incorporate decision skills.
When: Available early summer 2008
Length: 1 to 2.5 days
Who should attend: Middle school and high school teachers
Where: On site at your school or organization, at Stanford University, or online
Certificate Program
Teachers, administrators, and other school/youth personnel can receive a Certificate in Strategic Decision and Risk Management with an Emphasis in Decision Education from the Stanford Center for Professional Development (part of Stanford University). The certificate is awarded to those who complete six 2.5-day courses – two core courses (Decision Quality for Educators and Decision Analysis) and four electives from the Stanford Decision and Risk Management program, including one elective for educators. The courses in the Certificate Program are offered at Stanford, at a local school site, or online. The Certificate Program is designed for teachers, counselors, administrators, and others who wish to hone their decision-making competence.
